A Year of Fundraising for 2023!
2023 has seen AMMF supporters go above and beyond with their fundraising, from organised events to sponsored challenges, we’ve been amazed by our fundraiser’s creativity and commitment to raising funds for AMMF. Here is just a brief round-up of some of the events that have taken place over the year, and we thank each and every one of our supporters for their dedication and commitment to helping AMMF continue to work towards our aims!
January
Michaela Armstrong – Climbing Moel Famou in memory of Kevin Armstrong
In memory of her husband Kevin, Michaela and a group of friends and family climbed Moel Famou to celebrate his 50th birthday.
February
Andrea Sheardown – Cycling across Thailand
Andrea completed another of her epic challenges in support of AMMF this year, this time completing a cycle ride from Bangkok to Phuket – which is approximately 1000km! Andrea has already started planning her next challenge, her AMMF Army will be completing the Inca Trail and the Rainbow Mountain in March 2024!
March
Julie Metcalfe – 1 million steps in March – In support of Carol
Carol’s group of friends, organised by Julie, set themselves the challenge of completing 1 million steps in March for their 1 in a million friend. They did so well with their challenge that they actually decided to up their challenge and complete 2 million steps – which they smashed!
April
Ellie Woods – Charity Football Match – In memory of James Bailey
Ellie decided to organise a charity Football Match in memory of her close friend James Bailey, which was a huge success! Well done to everyone who took part in this great event!
May
Sheryl Stockley – St Ives to Bude in memory of Steve Stockley
Sheryl decided to walk from St Ives to Bude in memory of her dad Steve, where she encountered some wonderful views!
June
Steven Hunter – Lands End to John O-Groats in memory of Julie Hunter
Steve, Mike and Nigel set off to complete a journey that Steve and Julie had planned to take themselves, spanning over a few weeks with the support of Sue and Dude the dog (pictured) they raised a fantastic amount of awareness on their journey!
July
Ultra Challengers – Peak District Challenge in support of Polly Bailey and in memory of Rachel Boness
We had 2 groups taking part in the Peak District Ultra Challenge, Amy and Polly (currently being treated for cholangiocarcinoma) and Kat, Sally, Andy, Fran and Charlotte took part in memory of Kat’s sister, Rachel. They met whilst on the challenge and cheered each other over their finish lines!

Music Festival in memory of Barbara Oddy
The Harden and Oddy family hosted Woodfest 2023 at their local pub in memory of Barbara, it was a great day full of music, craft stalls and enjoyment by all!
September
Netball Tournament – in memory of Charlotte Croxton
Gemma organised a Netball tournament in memory of her sister Charlotte, who was a keen netball player herself.
October
AMCOGiffen – Coast to Coast Cycle ride
The company took on this challenge in memory of their colleague, Peter Ritchie who passed away last year. It was great to see everyone take on this challenge with a strong mindset with the weather adding to the experience!
November
Chris Allum – Charity Football Match – In memory of Charlie Allum
The Allum family held their annual charity football match in memory of their dad, Charlie Allum. It was a great day full of family and friends!
December
Gareth Honeybone – Ultra comedy show in Sheffield
Gareth decided to take his experience with battling cholangiocarcinoma and make it into a stand-up comedy routine, which he performed in Sheffield, and was also interviewed on BBC Look North!
