Thoughts on Cannabidiol Products

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is one of many chemicals found in the cannabis plant. It has been suggested many times and in many articles and forums as an alternative treatment and even as a cure for a variety of conditions and ills, including cancer.

Many people with cancer attribute the management of their symptoms and side effects from their cancer treatments to their use of CBD as a complementary therapy.

However, there’s very little research around CBD and its use in treating people with cancer. Because at AMMF we are asked many times about this subject, we now share some information which we hope will be helpful.

Notes on Cannabidiol Products

AMMF’s Gillian Corrigan RN has reviewed a number of sources of information and has produced a very useful summary, which is available to download by clicking here.

Is CBD Safe for People with Cancer?

And we also share information prepared by Cancer.Net (Doctor-Approved Patient Information from ASCO), “Is CBD Safe for People with Cancer?”.  To read this, information click here

And finally – taken from Gillian’s report:

“As Dr Bauer from the Mayo Clinic says:

“If it is strong enough to help you, it is strong enough to hurt you.”

Bottom line – always talk with your medical team before using CBD.”
