Viewing 1 post (of 1 total) Author Posts May 18, 2017 at 10:13 am #10633 Helen_ammfModerator The results of the long running BILCAP trial are now out (18.05.17) This trial investigated the benefit of giving the chemotherapy Capecitabine to those patients who have had surgery for their cholangiocarcinoma, versus surgery and surveillance alone. The results clearly show that those having the adjuvant chemotherapy did better than those without. Surgeon Professor John Primrose has commented, “… these results show that patients who have surgery should be given Capecitabine.” AMMF welcomes these results, a long time coming, but now we can be sure that cholangiocarcinoma patients should be offered chemotherapy following their surgery.
