Chris Darby

Chris Darby was 35 years old when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma in July 2019.

Family meant everything to Chris. Married only a year to his long-term partner, Ordene, they were so looking forward to starting a family of their own. He was a well respected Gas Engineer, Director of his own Plumbing and Heating Business. Dedicated, hard working and committed, Chris took great pride in his work and would never give up until he had found the solution to whatever problems his clients experienced ; because of this, his clients returned time and time again to him.

Chris faced his diagnosis with courage and great tenacity. He was determined to fight this illness whilst continuing to make the most of his life and have as many adventures as he could. There were many get togethers with family and friends at his home, his favourite parks and, especially when the weather was hot, he would take off to a beach in his usual spontaneous style with his wife and any family members and friends who could join him.

Despite going through gruelling rounds of chemo, he made trips to New York for a family wedding in August, went on a lads holiday in Ayia Napa in October, Tunisia with Ordene and was determined to make it to Jamaica for Christmas with close family, despite his health deteriorating and gradually becoming weaker.

Chris made it to Jamaica returning to the UK on 3rd January 2020.

Chris died on the 8th of January 2020. He faced death in the same way he faced his illness and life- with great courage, never giving up hope. All his family and friends are so very proud of him.
