Andrea’s AMMF Army reach new heights!

In February 2020, Andrea Sheardown and the #AndreasAMMFArmy tackled their biggest fundraising challenge for AMMF so far, trekking to Everest Base Camp! Having successfully scaled Mount Kilimanjaro in 2018 and cycling 450km from Vietnam to Cambodia in 2019, Andrea has always felt that Everest was ‘meant to be’! Along with her husband Chris, son Sam 16, sister Mandy and 11 other members of the #AndreasAMMFArmy, they have managed to raise over £17,000 to date, for this amazing challenge.

Accompanied by AMMF’s Hope Bear (who took to ‘photo-bombing’ the team!), the group faced freezing conditions, the possibility of altitude sickness and limited access to rescue services. The team left for Kathmandu on 13th February and after having to hitch-hike a lift on a helicopter, cross rope bridges, face four seasons in one day and tackle some of the toughest terrains on earth, they all reached Everest Base Camp safely on 23 February!

During the team’s descent from Everest Base Camp, Andrea’s husband presented her with an eternity ring, with the help of Hope Bear!

The challenge has been another amazing AMMF adventure for Andrea and the #AndreasAMMFArmy. With thanks to AO Events, we now have the pleasure in sharing the fantastic video of this epic Everest challenge!
