It’s a busy start to the fundraising year!
AMMF’s 2019 fundraising year got off to a splash with some of our supporters deciding to take a New Years Day dip! Thank you to the Duckett family for braving the cold waters of Saundersfoot Bay to raise funds. The pictures were amazing and you all looked fantastic (even if a little bit cold). Well done everyone!
February was Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness Month and AMMF joined forces with other charities around the world for World CCA Day on 12th February. Thank you to everyone who got involved and helped make it the biggest day yet! AMMF were very lucky to have some early half marathon runners too, who brought the sunshine out on what turned into an exceptionally warm February day.
Not all our fundraisers chose to take on a physical challenge during Awareness Month. A charity ball was held and a fantastic amount was raised. We hope everyone had a great night. Another supporter turned their pharmacy purple for a whole week, to spread awareness and raise funds. Thank you to all the staff at the Greenlight Pharmacy for your support.
Here at HQ, we decided to launch a new photo competition for Awareness Month – Pets in purple. We asked you to send us in photos of your pets showing their support for AMMF by wearing something purple. We were inundated with some great photos, we think the owners may have had more fun than the pets! The winner was decided by the most ‘Likes’ on our Facebook posts. We loved seeing every one of the photos, they certainly brightened our day! It was a very close result in the end but the winner was the beautiful ‘Posh’, who looked very regal in her purple dressage gear. Well done to her owner Lizzie, we hope you enjoyed the bottle of bubbly.
One of our long time supporters’ and herself a CC survivor, Andrea Sheardown, rallied #AndreasAMMFArmy onto their bikes for a 450km cycle through Vietnam and Cambodia. The team, which included Andrea’s daughter, really bonded over their experience and made some amazing memories, while so far managing to raise over £16,000. We know that Andrea is already planning her next event, so watch this space!
March is when the mass running season really kicks on. We’ve already had runners out pounding the streets for us across the country. We’ve even had a fundraiser walk a marathon in a day! Thank you for your time and effort, training for such events at this time of year is a challenge in itself! Lastly, if you are looking for a night out, with dancing and a raffle, keep an eye on our Facebook page. Our very own line dancing queen, Beryl Jones, may have something for you! Thank you to all our fundraisers so far this year, we really appreciate your support.
Please remember, whatever you do, however you do it …. if you are doing it for AMMF, LET US KNOW!
