Chris Allum’s Memorial Football Match
Chris Allum ran the London Marathon earlier this year for AMMF in memory of his father, Charlie Allum, who died from cholangiocarcinoma in June 2011. If you have read our marathon report, you will see that Chris has written very movingly of his experience of taking on this event, how he had a photo of himself and his Dad printed on the back of his running vest, and how he kept his Dad close to him throughout the whole marathon by wearing his picture in a locket and by using his Dad’s favourite cologne, Brut. (To read Chris’s report click here).
Now Chris is planning to raise further funds for AMMF by organising a memorial football match and auction on Saturday, 28th July, in memory of his Dad. Charlie was passionate about his football and was a former Wallingford AFC player and manager and passed this passion on to Chris, who is now Club Captain at Wallingford. So this is a very fitting tribute. It’s also causing a fair bit of interest around the Wallingford area where Charlie was a well-known and popular figure about the town – and the Wallingford Herald has now published an article about the match, doing an excellent job in promoting the event, and raising awareness of cholangiocarcinoma and AMMF, too.
The match date – Saturday 28th July. If anyone would like to know more, or to participate, Chris would love to hear from you: [email protected]
